Judith M. Wernig

Gilford-----Judith M. Wernig, 56, of Potter Hill Road, died at home on Monday, November 26, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Mrs. Wernig was born July 10, 1951 in Winthrop, Mass., the daughter of Alfred and Alice (Daly) Coleman.  She was a graduate of Winthrop High School and the Northeastern-Tufts Dental Assistant Program.  She was a long time resident of Gilford, having moved to her home on Potter Hill Road 29 years ago.

For the past 21 years, she and her family have owned and operated the North Country Deli in Laconia.  She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She took great joy in role as “Grammie” to her four grandchildren, enjoyed spending time at her cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee’s Diamond Island and loved welcoming friends and neighbors to celebrate Gilford Old Home Day from her porch every August.

Survivors include her mother, Alice G. Coleman, of Laconia; her husband of 35 years, Frederick J. Wernig, Jr. of Gilford; two sons, Jason F. Wernig and his wife, Dayna, of Gilford; Daniel A. Wernig of Gilford; a daughter, Gretchen E. Gandini and her husband, Keith, of Gilford; four grandchildren, Taryn R. Wernig, Addy L. Wernig, Patrick M. Gandini and Kyle F. Gandini; two brothers, Paul F. Coleman, and his wife, Diane, of Norwood, MA and Stephen D. Coleman and his wife, Rosalind, of Marblehead, MA and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She was predeceased by her father, Alfred A. Coleman, and by a brother, Dennis Coleman.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 4:00-7:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 11:00AM at the Gilford Community Church, Potter Hill Road, Gilford, NH.  Rev. Michael Graham, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date in the Raymond C. Wixson Memorial Garden, Gilford, NH.
