Matilda Dolly Shurak

Laconia---Matilda Dolly Shurak died on Sunday, December 2 after a brief illness at the Belknap County Nursing Home, where she had lived for the past two months.  She was born on June 6, 1929 in Boston and lived in the Boston area for most of her life before moving to the Lakes Region 20 years ago to live near her daughter, Linda.

Mrs. Shurak is survived by a son, Stanley Shurak, Jr.; a daughter, Linda Rooks and her husband, Byron Rooks of Belmont, NH; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Shurak and Jason Rooks.  She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Stanley Shurak, Sr.

Although she only lived at the Belknap County Home for a short time, she became good friends with many of the staff there, who appreciated her warm smile and sense of humor and who gave her excellent care during her time there.  While living in New Hampshire, she received care and support through the Community Service Council, which helped her maintain her independence and quality of life.  She was very close to her daughter, Linda, and was well loved by those who knew her.
