Bennie J. Novak, Sr.

Laconia-----Bennie J. Novak, Sr., 89, of 50 Girard Street and formerly of 47 Overland St., died at his home on Thursday, November 29, 2007.

Mr. Novak was born October 2, 1918 in Laconia, the son of Adam and Lena (Charmicki) Novak.

Mr. Novak was a lifelong resident of Laconia and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. 

Mr. Novak served in the U. S. Army during WWII.  He had been employed at Scott & Williams, Webster Valve and Laconia Malleable Iron before retiring in 1982. Following his retirement, he was employed at Sacred Heart Cemetery for many years.

Mr. Novak was a life member of the American Legion, Wilkins-Smith Post No.1, a member of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni, Falls Church, VA, the New Hampshire Chapter #107 of the Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni and a former member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No 876, the Laconia Rod and Gun, the Polish Home in Franklin and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Novak is survived by his wife, Shirley (Davis) Novak; two sons, Bennie J. Novak, Jr. and James J. Novak; two daughters, Lorraine T. Benoit and Claudette R. Saunders; four stepchildren, Judy Wright, Russell Perrino, Jean Knox and Ernest Boisvert; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; a sister, Miliani Perkins, and several nephews, nieces and cousins.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Ora (Cormier) Novak, January 23, 1994.

There will be no calling hours.

A private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 10:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
