Larry L. Carpenter

Tilton, NH-----Larry L. Carpenter, 67, of 27 Mt. View Drive, Tilton, died at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, on Thursday, November 29, 2007.

Mr. Carpenter was born January 26, 1940 in Panama City, Florida, the son of James and Una Vay (Pierce) Carpenter. He had been a resident of Tilton for the past 7 years coming from Florida. He had lived in Stoughton, Mass. for many years.

Mr. Carpenter was a distinguished veteran of the US Navy during the Viet Nam War serving for 8 years and was aboard the USS WASP during the  Space Capsule recovery.  He was a retired truck driver for Stony Field Farm for many years. He loved card tricks and telling jokes. He was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Peggy” (O’Brien) Carpenter, of Tilton; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura A.and Raymond Clegg of Warwick, R.I.; 2 grandsons, Nicholas J.L.C. Clegg of Tilton and Jason A. Clegg of Cambridge, Mass.; his mother of Panama City, Florida; 2 sisters, Judy Kannaday of Houston, Texas and Annie Jones of Panama City, Florida; many brothers and sisters-in-law and  many nephews and nieces. Beside his father, he was predeceased by a brother, William Carpenter, and by a sister, Elgie Lee Carpenter.

According to Larry’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Family and friends are invited to the family home at 27 Mt. View Drive, Tilton on Saturday December 8, 2007 from 2-5 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Tobacco Free Kids.org or American Lung Association of NH, 20 Warren Street Suite 4 Concord, NH 03301.
