Seth S. "Buddy" O'Shea

Laconia, N. H.---Seth S. “Buddy” O'Shea, 73, of 93 Hillcrest Drive, Laconia, died on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at the Boston Medical Center, Boston, MA after a period of failing health.  With him were his children and loving companion.

Seth was born in Plymouth, NH, on May 24, 1934, the son of John and Dorothy (Ouellette) O'Shea.  He graduated from Plymouth High School and attended Burdett College in Boston.  He graduated from Plymouth Teachers College in 1957.  He earned both a Master's degree and a CAGS from Boston University.   He was also a member of the United States Military.

His educational career included teaching and administrative positions in the Salem, NH, and Timberlane school districts.  At age 35 he became Ass't. Superintendent and then Superintendent of Schools in Concord, NH, where he spent the next 15 years.  He retired from education to enter the business world. 

After spending some years as the owner of two Agway franchises in Tilton and Rochester, he moved to Laconia in 2004 where he was semi-retired, working as an Ass’t. Manager at Peebles Dept. store.  His interests included golf, especially the annual family tournament (since 1973);  landscaping, which he continued to enjoy; and football, where he was an avid fan of Notre Dame.

He truly felt fortunate to be father and grandfather to all his loved ones, and deeply valued the time he had with them.  His holiday spirit, fun-loving ways and generosity to children and others will be remembered.  His presence will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his son Dan O'Shea and wife Mara, and grandchildren Molly, Kerry, and Patrick of Cumberland, ME; his son Bill O'Shea and wife Karen, and granddaughter Marissa of Manchester, NH; his daughter Kate O'Shea Castle and husband Greg, and grandchildren Maggie and Brady Castle of Green Township, NJ; and his loving companion, Leonora LaMudge, with whom he made his home, her daughter Janine Neggers and husband Jeff, and grandchildren Marena and Erik of Meredith, NH; her son Craig LaMudge and wife Donna of San Antonio, TX; his stepchildren Lynn Monticone and husband Steve, their children Michelle and Stephanie of Penacook, NH; Scott Silver and wife Leah, their children Julia and Lindon of Topsfield, MA; Bill Silver of New York City; and he also leaves a sister, Jacqueline Cloud of Plymouth, several nieces, nephews.   He was predeceased  by his parents and by a sister who died in August.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, N.H.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia, N.H. by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church.

No graveside services will be held.
