Joan C. (Goonan) Wilber

Gilford - Joan C. (Goonan) Wilber of Gilford, NH passed away May 29, 2009 after a brief illness, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing.

She was born November 29, 1935 in Manchester, NH. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Girls’ School. She was the daughter of John and Henrietta Goonan (Paige), and sister of Margaret Ryder and Mary Baril. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eugene Wilber, and her children Linda and Robert Roy of Port St. Lucie, FL, Michael and Anne Wilber, of Marlborough, NH, Lori and Frank Scarito of Manchester, NH, Suzan and Scott French of Proctor, VT, and Stephen and Leigh Wilber of Hampton Falls, NH, and thirteen grandchildren.

Active in her community and church, she was a Girl Scout leader, CCD teacher and member of the Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She also worked at Cheshire Hospital in Keene, NH before moving in 1993 to the Lakes Region, where she continued teaching CCD. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Concord, NH. She was an artist and wintered with her husband in Florida on Hutchinson Island. She will be missed by all those who knew her.

A calling hour will be held on Wednesday June 3, 2009 from Noon-1:00PM at St. Joseph Church 30 Church Street Laconia.

There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian burial following the calling hour at St. Joseph Church, at 1:00PM Wednesday, June 3, 2009.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Children’s Hospital Trust, 1 Autumn Street #731, Boston MA 02215-5301 or the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street # 301 Robbinsville NJ 08691-4183.
