Margaret Best Waage

Laconia---- Margaret Best Waage, 65, died on Monday, May 25, 2009 in Laconia at Genesis Eldercare after a long illness.

The younger daughter of Janet Cairns (Wilson) Best and Albert Leonard Best of Darien, Conn., and Paris, France, Margaret was educated in Europe, later at the Low Heywood School in Noroton, Conn., and Cornell University, majoring in Asian studies.

Burdened by severe illness, Margaret was nevertheless able to work and live independently. While residing in Stamford, Conn., Margaret became a member of the Community of St. Luke, a lay monastic order serving the needy.

In later years, Margaret resided at the Stafford House in Laconia. Margaret’s many friends, family, and caregivers will remember her keen wit and intelligence, her deep religious faith and her love of animals.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Starr Best Hope, of Center Sandwich, N. H., cousins, nephews and nieces and great-nieces and great-nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia, N.H. on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 10:00AM by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
