Belmont-----Charles Edward Tessier, 62, of Belmont, N.H., died on May 17, 2009 at the Franklin Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Charles was the son of Edward and Pauline Tessier of Skowhegan, Maine where he was born on January 31, 1947. He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1965 where he was active in the high school band. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts at Southern Maine Technical College in 1972. Shortly after graduation, he married Joyce Marilyn Croteau of Bridgton, Maine, who was his college classmate and who has remained his dedicated partner throughout his life.
In his professional career, Charles was employed as a pastry chef and food services manager at Wellesley College and Rumney Bible Conference. He had a variety of hobbies and interest. He enjoyed music, ballroom dancing, needlework and was an avid student of the science and art of Bingo. Together, Charles and Joyce enjoyed dancing, traveling, visiting friends and relatives and the company of their several lively pooches.

Charles is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Joyce M. (Croteau) Tessier, of Belmont; a brother, Richard, and his wife, Louise, of Skowhegan; by a sister, Deborah Hawes, and her husband, Stan, of Cornville, Maine and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, Alan.

Throughout the final months of his illness, he was grateful for the compassionate and professional care he received from Community Health & Hospice, Granite State Independent Living and Lutheran Smart Care and for the tireless love and attention of his wife, Joyce.

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of Charles’ life will be held in Skowhegan on Saturday, June 27, 2009.
