Laconia------Gertrude F. Sweeney, 97, of 21 Ledges Drive, Taylor Community, died on Saturday, May 30, 2009. Mrs. Sweeney was the widow of Charles B. Sweeney who died in 1989.

Mts. Sweeney was born July 13, 1911 in Boston, Mass., the daughter of John A. and Hannah (Shea) Cantwell. She lived in Arlington and Yarmouth Port Mass, for many years before moving to Laconia nineteen years ago.

Mrs. Sweeney was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Laconia.

Mrs. Sweeney is survived by a son, Charles B. Sweeney, of N. Easton, Mass.; a daughter, Elizabeth (Sweeney) Hawko, of Laconia; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Sweeney was predeceased by a brother, Rev. John A. Cantwell and by a sister, Sr. Frances Aloysius Cantwell S.N.D

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 10AM at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N. H. by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church.

Burial will follow at 2:30PM at the family lot in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hampshire Catholic Charities, Inc., PO Box 686, Manchester, N. H. 03105-0686.
