Boscawen-----Alan B. Avery, 54, of 325 Daniel Webster Highway, died at the Merrimack County Nursing Home on Thursday, May 28, 2009.

Alan was born October 4, 1954 in Laconia, N. H., the son of Brian Avery, who was captain of the M/S Mount Washington for many years, and Joan (LaCross) Avery.

Alan was a member and past president of the River Rats, a small group of friends who participated in many water sports and were known for their efforts to clean up local water sources.

Alan is survived by a daughter, Crystal Morris, of Great Lakes, Illinois; two grandchildren, Lily Ann Parshley and Kaida Morris; a brother, Bryan Avery, and a niece, Shanda Lee Avery, both of Myrtle Beach, SC and a sister Joan Drouin of Laconia. He was predeceased by his parents and by a daughter, Sally P. Avery, in 1997.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 1 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-

Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
