Robert R. Osburn

Gilford, N.H.-----Robert R. Osburn, 78, of 2600 Lakeshore Road, Gilford, N.H. and formerly of East Boston died at his home on Sunday, September 7, 2008.

Mr. Osburn was born July 17, 1930 in Avalon, Pennsylvania, the son of Alexander W. and Hilda M. (Hughes) Osburn. He was a graduate of Hutchinson Center High School and the T.M.I. School of Transportation. He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed at GTE/OSRAM Sylvania for thirty-five years, retiring in June, 1993.

Mr. Osburn attended the Gilford Community Church and was a former Chairman of the Board of the Lake Shore Park Association in Gilford. He was a member of the Boston Sailing Club and enjoyed swimming at the Paris Street Gym, East Boston for many years. Mr. Osburn loved spending time with his family and friends and playing cribbage.

Mr. Osburn is survived by his wife, Louise J. (Sproule) Osburn, of Gilford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. & Lori of Reading, Mass. and Paul D. & Sharon Osburn of Elizabethtown, Penn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret L. and Robert Ramsdell of North Reading, Mass. and Martha J. and Ronald Fagner also of North Reading, Mass.; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Stephen & Renee Legro, of Vail, Colorado; a sister, Helen Van Wyke, of Youngstown, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Laura, Robert and Christopher Ramsdell, Melissa Fagner, Katelyn, Alexandria, Julianna, Paul R., Allison, Justin, Kathryn, Alaina, and Shawn; a step granddaughter, Megan; two great grandchildren, Karissa & Matthew Fagner and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Osburn was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret L. Osburn, by two brothers, Alex Osburn and Fred Osburn and by a grandson, Matthew Fagner.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 from 5:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 9:30AM at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford, N.H. Rev. Michael Graham, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow at 1:00PM in the family lot at Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, 30 Winter Street, Second Floor, Boston, Mass. 02108.
