Patricia "Pat" Ann Young

Laconia, NH -----Patricia “Pat” Ann Young, 75, of 227 Ledges Drive, died at her home on Saturday, September 8, 2007.

Mrs. Young was born September 19, 1931 in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of Bernard and Gertrude (Leary) Scahill.  Mrs. Young lived in Winchester, Mass. before moving to Center Harbor, N.H. fifteen years ago.

An elementary school teacher for over 30 years, Mrs. Young was passionate about helping her kids to grow and learn in her classroom. She welcomed the challenge of special needs students when mainstreaming was novel and with loving care inspired children to discover the joy of learning. A devout Catholic, Pat’s faith threaded through her daily life as wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to tend to her plants, to knit, cook, cross-stitch, stencil and paint. A perfectionist and fretfully gracious host, joy came to her most when she was able to be with family and close friends, most memorably on Squam Lake, “Au Barge”.

Loving wife to Dick “Dee” Young for 53 years, devoted mother to Chris Young and wife Karen of Newburyport, MA and Liz Benoit and husband Bruce of Chelmsford, MA; doting Nana to Samantha, Shannon, Luke and Jacob, Pat now watches over them and her sister Geraldine Waters of West Palm Beach, FL, brother Larry Scahill and wife Peggy of Scituate, MA and late and cherished sister Margaret Mittendorf and Gerald Mittendorf, nieces Muriel Waters, Jill Scahill and Christina Mittendorf Berube, nephews Peter Scahill and Michael Mittendorf as well as many wonderful and treasured friends.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of  Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 N.H. Rte 25, Meredith, N. H. on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM by Rev. Dennis Audet, Pastor of the Church.
