Richard Schumm

Laconia-----Richard Schumm, 81, of 641 Benton Drive, died at the St. Francis Healthcare Center on Sunday, September 2, 2007.

Mr. Schumm was born July 23, 1926 in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, the son of the late Jacob and Erna A. (Thrun) Schumm. 

Mr. Schumm served in the U. S. Army.  He graduated from Fordham University and received his Master’s Degree from New York University.  He was a high school teacher in New Jersey for many years.  In 1982, Mr. Schumm moved to New Hampshire where he lived in Sanbornton, Meredith and Laconia.

Mr. Schumm was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  He was a member and past president of the Laconia-Gilford Lions Club, a member of the Salvation Army Board and a member of the 50+ Club in Meredith.

Mr. Schumm is survived by two nieces, Arlette of Arizona and Susan of Florida.  In addition of his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Walter R. Schumm.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2238 Parade Road, Laconia, NH. on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 1:00PM.  Rev. David Hackmann, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. on Tuesday, September 11, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, PO Box 6125, Laconia, N.H. 03247.
