Lenora J. Reid

Laconia-----Lenora J. Reid, 80, of 175 Blueberry Lane, died at the Genesis Eldercare Laconia Center on Tuesday, September 11, 2007.

Lenora was born November 11, 1926 in Caribou, Maine, the daughter of William and Anastasia (Belanger) Lagassie.  She grew up in northern Maine and learned the art of hand picking potatoes that developed strong work ethics for the rest of her life.  Her family relocated to Augusta during her teen years, where she worked as a waitress and short order cook for eighteen years.  It was during this time that she began her family.  In 1960, she moved to Derry, N. H. where she was employed by Derry Shoe until its closing.  Dunkin Donuts in West Manchester, NH was another job for a few years.  Then she took a position at Hadco, Inc. in Derry until she retired.  After a five year period, Lenora moved to the Lakes Region residing in Meredith and Laconia until her death. 

Lenore loved the lakes and especially picnicking at the ocean as well as fishing.  The Boston Red Sox was her favorite team and watching the series was a favorite time for her each fall.  She listened to country and rock & roll music.  She enjoyed Saturday night dancing with her friends.  She played card games with cribbage being her favorite.  She was very interested in traveling and had the opportunity to visit many places in the States, Quebec and the Bermuda Islands.

Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Nichols and her husband, Les, of Gilford;  two sons, John B. Reid, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Charlestown, N.H. and Rick L. Morton  and his wife Cynthia of Hooksett, N.H; seventeen grandchildren, Robert Bryant of Manchester, NH, Nathan Reid of Mass., Timothy Reid of Manchester, NH, Briana Reid of Charlestown, N. H., Christopher McAndrew and Nykia Reid, both of Charlestown, N. H., Christie West of Manchester, N. H., Christina Morton of Manchester, N. H., Joshua Morton of Pembroke, N. H., Justin Morton of Hooksett, N. H., George Johnson and Durand Johnson both of Manchester, N. H., Diane Nichols-Ivas of Virginia, Teresa Burris Williams of  Merrimack, N.H., Dawn Wiitala of Barrington, N. H., Leah Bushnell of Meredith, N. H. and Jill Abbott of Gilford, N. H.; twenty-nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; three sisters, Lorretta Chassie of Courseville, Maine, Hortance LeJoy and Theresa Dostie both of  Augusta, Maine; a sister-in-law, Bibian Lagassie, of Augusta, Maine and many nephews and nieces.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased her two husbands, Forrest Morton and John B. Reid, Sr; by a daughter, Gale Morton; two grandchildren, Ricky Morton and Tanya Morton; four brothers; Stanley, Joseph, Henry and Gerard and by a sister, Gertrude Charrett.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 from 11: 00-Noon at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia.  Following the calling hour at Noon, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church.

Burial will be at a future date at Pleasant View Cemetery in Londonderry, N. H.
