Hollis A. Cummings

Laconia-----Hollis A. Cummings, 87, of 21 Ledges Drive and formerly of 242 Elm Street, died at Ledgeview, Taylor Community, on Friday, September 28, 2007. 

Mr. Cummings was born February 23, 1920 in Laconia, N.H., the son of Elmer and Nellie M. (Huckins) Cummings.

Mr. Cummings served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Cummings was a longtime resident of Laconia.  He lived in Burbank, California for a eighteen years where he was employed at Lockheed Aircraft for eighteen years.  He was also employed as a custodian at Gilford High School for eleven years, retiring in 1985.

Mr. Cummings was a member of the American Legion Wilkins Smith Post #l and a member of I.O.O.F. of Laconia.

Survivors include two nephews, Richard Gove of Florida and Steven Gove of Laconia; several grandnieces and a grandnephew. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cummings was predeceased by his wife, Martha (Couture) Cummings, in 1995; by two sisters, Gwendolyn Gove and Erva Estes and by a nephew, Andrew Gove.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 10:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.  Rev. John Davies, Spiritual Care Coordinator for Community Health & Hospice, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, N. H.
