Jane K. Dowling

Laconia, NH—Jane K. Dowling, in her 99th year, died peacefully at The Taylor Home on the morning of September 23, 2006. She was born on February 8, 1907 in New York City, the daughter of Paul and Alice (Gustafssen) Kingberry. Mrs. Dowling attended schools in Woodbridge, New Jersey where she lived before and after her marriage to John J. Dowling who predeceased her, as well as her sister, Helen Koyen.

She later lived in Summit, New Jersey and Morrisville, Pennsylvania before moving to the Lakes Region in 1998. While in Morrisville, she volunteered at Tenacre, a Christian Science retirement village at Princeton, New Jersey, as well as working in Advertising for the Christian Science Monitor. She read the news on the radio and also typed a book in Braille for the blind. She enjoyed painting, playing the piano and her many friends in the area.

She leaves three sons, John P. “Jack” Dowling of New York City, David W. Dowling and his wife, Annette, of Rockaway, New Jersey, Peter D. Dowling and his wife, Polly Pettit, of Takona Park, Maryland and her daughter, Susan J. Nelson, and husband, Donald, of Gilford, New Hampshire. Also surviving are five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a nephew and two nieces.

There will be no calling hours at her request.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 30th at 3 PM at The Taylor Home, 435 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH,

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial donations may be made to The First Church of Christ Scientist, 136 Pleasant St., Laconia, NH 03246.

A gathering of family and friends will also take place on Sunday, October 8th in New York.
