Walter G. Allen, Sr.

Laconia-----Walter G. Allen, Sr., 95, of 406 Court Street, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2006.

Mr. Allen was born June 15, 1911 in Franklin, NH, the son of Francis and Mary (Plourde) Allen. He married Hazel Fortin in 1937 and together they raised five children. She predeceased him in July of 1990.

Mr. Allen lived in Laconia for most of his life. He was employed at Scott & Williams, Inc. for thirty-four years, retiring in 1973.

Mr. Allen was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Many of Walt’s fondest memories are the many trips that he and his wife and family took to visit their daughter in Arizona. His favorite pastime during his 19 year stay at the Bishop Bradley Apartments and St. Francis Home was to play a challenging game of cribbage with his family and friends. Walt had a wonderful sense of humor, a kind and gentle spirit and a generous servant’s heart. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many acquaintances who knew him.

He leaves a daughter, Sr. Mary Genevieve (Patricia Allen) of St. Michaels, Arizona; twin sons; Richard and his wife, Alice, of Laconia and Roger and his wife, Jeannine, of Belmont, a son, Water Allen, Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Laconia and a daughter, Katherine Piroso, and her husband, Peter, of Concord; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; nephews and nieces and a large extended family.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 10:00AM by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Lambert
Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his daughter’s ministry, The Desert House of Prayer, PO Box 391, St. Michaels, Arizona 86511 or to the St. Francis Heathcare Center, Activities Fund, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
