Pauline G. Tierney

Laconia-----Pauline G. Tierney, 80, of 84 Whipple Avenue, died at her home on Friday, September 1, 2006.  She was the widow of Laurence L. Tierney who died on March 15, 1989.

Mrs. Tierney was born January 18, 1926 in Malden, MA, the daughter of Clarence E. and Grace A. (Pitman) Greene.

Mrs. Tierney was a life long resident of Laconia.  She graduated from Laconia High School in 1943 and from the Concord Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.  During her schooling, she was affiliated with the New Hampshire State Hospital, Concord Hospital, Margaret Pillsbury Hospital and the Portland (Maine) Hospital.

Mrs. Tierney was a registered nurse for over forty years.  She was employed at the Lakes Region General Hospital for thirty years and at the Laconia Clinic for seventeen years.  She retired in 1989.

Mrs. Tierney was a member of The Congregational Church of Laconia where she was a Deaconess.  Over the years, she had been involved with the Church’s youth services, junior choir and was a Sunday school teacher and Cub Scout leader for many years.  She was also a member of the Laconia Historical Society.                                                                                                

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, L. Michael and Anne Tierney, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Patrick B. and Coleen Tierney of Laconia, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn T. and Abraham Dadian, of Meredith, NH; four grandchildren, Julie McGetrick of New Jersey, Caitlin Tierney of Massachusetts, Patrick Tierney of Laconia, NH and Benjamin Tierney of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Mary Greene, of Gilford, NH and Mary T. Long, of Falmouth, MA; a brother-in-law, James Tierney, of Tom’s River, NJ and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a niece, Nora Lynch, of  Gilford, NH.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Greene.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 from 6:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 11:00AM at The Congregational Church of Laconia, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH.  Rev. Dr. Warren Bouton, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
