Alvin A. Grenier

Gilford-----Alvin A. Grenier, 87, of Intervale Road, died at his home on September 28, 2006.

Mr. Grenier was born January 3, 1919 in Worcester, MA, the son of Stuart and Amanda (Davieau) Grenier.

Mr. Grenier was an Army veteran, having served in Europe in WWII.

After the war, he returned to being a machinist, moving with his family to the Weirs in 1960, then to Gilford in 1970. He retired from NH Ball Bearings after 46 years as a master machinist and continued to work part time well into his 80’s, most recently at KFC Laconia. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Mr. Grenier was a 30 year member and clerk of Call Company 3 of the Laconia Fire Department and was honored for his years of service on September 12, 2004, by mayoral proclamation Alvin Grenier Day in the City of Laconia.

He leaves behind three children, Peter Grenier of Charlotte, NC, Richard Grenier of Gilford, Laurett Grenier RN, also of Gilford; his brother, Francis Grenier, and a sister, Ruth Walsh, both of Massachusetts. His four grandchildren Matthew Grenier of Denver, CO, Melanie Sicheri RN, of Charleston, SC, Timothy and Andrew Grenier of Gilford and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Viola (Lessard) Grenier in 1995.

Mr. Grenier was devoted to his family, their interests being his interest, and was most proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 2, 2006, from 7:00-9:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH. by Rev. Adrien Longchamps, Pastor of the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Laconia Firefighters Relief Association, 848 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
