Norman A. Nardello

Alton Bay, NH – Norman A. Nardello, 84, of 160 Spring Street, Alton Bay and Cape Haze, Fla. passed away Friday, September 09, 2005 at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia after health complications from an advanced stage of cancer diagnosed in July.

He was born January 20, 1921, in Naugatuck, CT to Charles Nardello and Catherine DeCarlo Nardello. He grew up in Naugatuck, CT and graduated from Naugatuck High School, class of 1939. He was married for 49 years to Doris Bonaker Nardello who passed away in 1990.

Mr. Norman was a licensed cosmetologist and cosmetology educator in CT and NH his career spanning 60 years. With his wife Doris he opened his first business in 1946, Mr. Norman Hair Stylist in Nauguatuck, CT. He opened the first beauty salon to be located in a hospital in CT. During the 60’s he expanded his business opening Mr. Norman’s Salon Continental in Portsmouth, NH. He also started the Portsmouth Beauty School and was President and CEO. In 1982 he opened Mr. Norman’s Cosmetology School, in Rochester, NH. A member of the National Cosmetologist’s Association (NCA) he served at both the State and National levels and was the recipient of many industry awards. Elected a Commissioner for Zone 6 of the National Accrediting Commission for Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) he served two five years terms.

We Remember: Norm was a member of the Winnipisaukee Lodge # 75 of Alton, a 32nd degree member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Bektash Shrine in NH and the Sahib Shrine Center in Sarasota, FL. He enjoyed appearing in parades driving his miniature corvette wearing the distinctive red fez. Norm loved flying his own airplane and was a member of the Alton Bay Fly Club. He enjoyed boating, golfing, and spending time with his many friends throughout the country.

He leaves his wife Marie Anderson Nardello of Alton Bay and Cape Haze, Fla. He also leaves one son, Francis A. Nardello and his wife, Kathleen of Rochester, NH, two granddaughters, Nicole Lawton, and her husband, James, and their children, Riley and Connor of Lee, NH, and Danielle Faix, and her husband Andrew, and their child, Abigail, of Hartland, MI. He also leaves his sister, Antoinette Long, of Naugatuck, CT., and his sister-in-law Gertrude Grace, of FL. In addition he leaves several nieces and nephews and many friends throughout the country. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lena SanFilippo and Rose Donovan.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Wolfeboro, Sunday September 18, 2005 at 1:00 PM.
