Edward "Eddie" G. Allen, Sr.

Laconia-----Edward “Eddie” G. Allen, Sr., 77, of 211 Franklin St., Lakeport and also known in the Lakes Region as “Chef A”, died at his home on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.
Eddie was born in Laconia on July 30, 1932, the son of Emile and Marion (Girard) Allen.
Eddie was a lifelong resident of Laconia and had served in the U. S. Navy. He was a well-known Chef in the Lakes Region and had been employed at Contigiani’s Catering and then Christmas Island Steak House for many years. He later worked for Merrimac Sales of Derry and J. Stone & Sons of Lynn, Mass. as a salesman.
Eddie was very active in the Laconia-Gilford Lions Club and Founder and past President of the Industrial Golf League at Pheasant Ridge Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf, riding his motorcycle with friends and telling a joke.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Contigiani) Allen, of Lakeport; a son, Edward Allen, Jr. and his wife, Wanda, who, with his wife, were his primary caregivers; five daughters, Liz Lyman and her husband, Jack, Deborah Allen, Annette Parker, Jean Allen and Joan MacQuarrie and her husband, Jay; eleven granddaughters and grandsons; Annette, Jay, Stacey, Patrick, Austin, Joel, Alyssa, Ashley, Megan, Jessika and Chris; one great granddaughter, Alicia; a sister, Pat Ketchum, many nieces, nephews; many close friends and his faithful dog, Nella. Eddie was predeceased by his parents, by a brother, Francis, and by a sister, Claire.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 4:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, N.H. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 10:00AM.
Burial will follow in the family lot in St. John’s Cemetery, Tilton, N.H.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1 Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110 or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
