Jean C. Graves

Laconia-----Jean C. Graves, 85, of 66 Gale Avenue died Oct. 3, 2007 after a brief illness.  She was the wife of Robert Graves, Sr. with whom she had just celebrated their 59th anniversary.

Jean was born September 28, 1922 in Madison, Connecticut, the daughter of Dugald W. and Gwendolyn V. (Keegan) Clarke.
 
Jean graduated from the University of CT and earned her teacher certificate.  She was a teacher in VT., NY., and Newton, MA for many years.  When she retired from teaching, she worked in the Sundial Shop in Laconia until her retirement at age 80.  For 20 years she ran the book sale for the Belknap Mill.  In both settings, Jean’s love and knowledge of books was evident to all.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her brother, Dugald Clarke of CT., her four sons, Robert Graves, Jr. of VA., Jonathan Graves and his wife, Susan, of  MA., Frederick Graves of MN., and Charles Graves of MA., and four granddaughters, Lauren Graves of MI., and Anna Graves, Rebecca Graves and Samantha Graves all of MA.

A Memorial Service for Jean C. Graves will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 2:00PM at the Belknap Mill, 25 Beacon St. East, Laconia. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belknap Mill Society, 25 Beacon St. East, Laconia, N.H. 03246, the Lakes Region General Hospital, Elder Care Unit, 80 Highland, Laconia, N.H. 03246 or to Community Health and Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main St., Laconia, N. H. 03246.
