Pearl S. York

Gilford-----Pearl S. York, 94, of 197 Roxbury Road, Meredith and a former longtime resident of Belknap Mt. Road, Gilford died at the Goldenview Healthcare Center, Meredith on Sunday, October 2, 2005. She was the widow of Donald P. York who died in 1989.

Mrs. York was born June 30, 1911 in Laconia, NH the daughter of Charles and Edna Tucker Smith. Mrs. York was employed as a census enumerator for the U. S. Government. She was a member of the Gilford Community Church, the Belknap County Pomona Grange, the New Hampshire State Grange and the National Grange. She was also a member of the Mary Butler Chapter of the D.A.R. and a member of the Society of Colonial Dames.

Survivors include a daughter, Penelope L. York, of Meredith; a son, John A. York, of Fairfax, VA; seventeen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Donald P. York, Jr. in 1970 and Charles L. York in 2003.

There will be no calling hours

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 2:00PM at the family lot in Village Cemetery, Meredith, NH. The Rev. Michael Graham, pastor of the Gilford Community Church will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
