Tomasina Stone

LACONIA – Tomasina Stone, 74, of 75 Stark Street – Unit 7, passed away at her home after a long battle with cancer on the 20th of October. She first found out she had breast cancer in 1984 but the last seven years was the real struggle.

Born in Claremont, NH, on October 31, 1930, she was the daughter of John Jed Marcotte and Goldie DeCato - Marcotte – Robertson.

She attended Towle High School in Newport, NH graduating in 1948. After graduating she went to work for the Sullivan County Registry of Deeds in Newport, NH for fifteen years.

In 1950, she married Richard Charles Stone of Laconia, NH. While raising her three children, she also worked 24 years for New England Telephone now known as Verizon as a Engineering Clerk before her retirement in 1990.

She was a Brownie Scout Leader in Newport when her girls were younger. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Laconia, NH. She also was a volunteer at Lakes Region Hospital, Congregational Church, and United Way. She supported both the Laconia and Gilford sports that her children and grandchildren were involved with.

Tommy’s life was centered around her family, friends, and tennis. Tomasina ran a tennis group of ladies for 13 years and spent many days at Gilford Hills playing tennis with her many friends. She also spent many wonderful times enjoying her grandchildren. She was extremely proud of all her children and all they accomplished. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed by her loved ones and all the fine doctors, nurses and hospice people who helped her with her battle with cancer.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Dimon, and her husband, Thomas, of Dover, NH and Vickie Summers and her husband, Peter, of Hernando, Florida; a son, Jeffrey R. Stone, and his wife, Katy, of Laconia, NH; her greatest joys were her six grandsons, Brendan Dimon, Kalen, Tanner and Skylar Summers and Ryan and Riley Stone; two step grandchildren, Tom Dimon, Jr. and Tracey Dimon; two great step grandchildren, Aiden and Brady McDonough; several nephews and nieces; one sister, Mary McGowan, and her husband, George, of Lake Worth, FL; and one brother, Jack Marcotte, of Newport, NH and his wife, Maureen; three step brothers, Timothy Robertson of Meredith, NH, Terry Robertson of Newport, NH and his wife, Adriane, Roger Robertson of Newport, NH and his wife, Rose Marie She was predeceased by her beloved former husband and best friend, Richard.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at 2:00PM at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH. Rev. Dr. Warren H. Bouton, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.
