Belmont-------Mr. Ernest R. Fitts, 88, of 11 Witham Road and formerly of Highcrest Drive, died Friday, November 21, 2008.

Mr. Fitts was born November 29, 1919 in Laconia, the son of Samuel and Emelia (Begin) Fitts. He served in the US Army during WW II. He was a long time resident of Belmont and was employed at Allen Rogers for 37 years and was a member of the VFW Post 1670, Laconia.

Mr. Fitts was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Laconia.

Survivors include his two daughters, Gloria L. Chamberlain, of Concord and Linda R. Gilbert, with whom he made his home, along with her companion, Edward A. Stanley Jr., and her youngest daughter, Kayla Gilbert, all of Belmont; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four brothers, Warren Fitts of Babylon, NY, Armand Fitts of Gilford, Donald Fitts of Sanbornton and Philip Fitts of Concord. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice (Couture) Fitts. in 2003; his brothers, Samuel Fitts, Jr., Theodore Fitts, Verner Fitts, Merrill Fitts and Robert Fitts and by his two sisters, Etta Fitts and Alice Kelly.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:00AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH. Rev. Adrien Longchamps, Pastor of the Church, will be the celebrant.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health and Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH, 03246 or to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH, 03101.
