Laconia -----Mrs.  E. Vivian Hughes, 88, of 13 Massachusetts Avenue, Lakeport, died at her home on Wednesday, November 29, 2006.

Mrs. Hughes was the widow of Roland A. Hughes who died in 1991 after 50 years of marriage.

Mrs. Hughes was born May 7, 1918 in Taunton, MA the daughter of John and Mary (Silvia) Baptista. She had been a resident of Laconia since 1942.

Mrs. Hughes was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She loved reading, gardening, collecting Teddy Bears and her pets. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Terry Hughes, of Laconia; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Lee Willett, of Gilford; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Bodi, Marsha Bourdon, Melanie Connelly, David Willett and Mark Willett; 2 great grandchildren; a brother Armand Baptista of Stoneham, MA; 2 sisters Irene Daversa of Brockton, MA and Shirley Catalano of Stoneham, MA; many nephews and nieces.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. Saturday December 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Adrien Longchamps pastor of the church will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the NH Humane Society PO Box 572 Laconia, NH 03247 or to Community Health & Hospice 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
