Robert C. Gilillian, Sr.

Laconia——Robert C. Gilfillan, Sr., 78, of 140 Mechanic Street, Lakeport, died on Sunday, March 24, 2002 at the Lakes Region General Hospital.

Mr. Gilfillan was born December 2, 1923 in Newport, Vermont, the son of Safford E. and Hestor (LaPointe) Gilfillan.

Mr. Gilfillan served in the U. S. Air Force for 14 years, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a machinist at Scott & Williams for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Gilfillan, of Lakeport, NH; four sons, Robert Gilfillan, Jr. of El Jebel, Colorado; Dwayne Gilfillan of San Francisco, CA, Karl Gilfillan of North Palm Beach, Florida and Viktor Gilfillan ; two daughters, Beverly Johnson and Brenda Sewall both of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; 9 grandchildren, Jesse Johnson, Sean Johnson, Maureen Johnson, Colleen Johnson, Crystal Sewall, Melody Roderick, Alexis Cartier, Hannah Neuburger-Gilfillan and Kendal Gilfillan; one brother, Harold Gilfillan of North Carolina, three sisters Betsy Marcotte of Florida; Louise Gilfillan of Vermont and Clarice Kahlstrom of Mass; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Gilfillan and by two brothers, Eugene Gilfillan and Frank Gilfillan.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 3:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Jonathan MacKenzie, Rector of St. James Episcopal Church, will officiate.
