Althea M. Urquhart

Gilmanton—-Mrs. Althea M. Urquhart, 77, of Gilmanton, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. She was the widow of Nelson A. Urquhart who died in 1992.

Mrs. Urquhart was born April 23, 1924 in Norwood, MA the daughter of Willard R. and Althea Mae (Clark) Jonah. She graduated from Walpole High School and Fisher Junior School in Boston, MA. She lived in Walpole, MA for 65 years before she and her husband moved to Gilmanton, NH in 1989. While she lived in Walpole, she belonged to the Camp Fire Girls and the Lend-a-Hand Club. She worked as the School Lunch Manager for the Walpole Schools for twenty five years and retired in 1987.

Mrs. Urquhart was a member of the Gilmanton Congregational Church. She was a member of the N. H. Extension, Smith Meeting House Association, the Gilmanton Garden Club and the Gilmanton Women’s Club. Her hobbies included gardening and travelling.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth N. Urquhart of New Sweden, Maine, Keith R. Urquhart of Tampa, Florida, David D. Urquhart of West Newfane, VT and Jeffrey A. Urquhart of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH; a daughter, Cynthia M. Lassey of North Attleboro, MA; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Rodrick W. Urquhart who died November 4, 2001.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 1, 2002 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Gilmanton Community Church at the Corners. Rev. Linda B. Bolton, Pastor of Gilmanton Town Ministry, will officiate.

Burial will be held at a later date in the family lot in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gilmanton Community Church Scholarship Fund, Box 6, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837.
