Dover, N.H.-----Elin E. Ames, 93, of Prospect Street, died on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Langdon Place of Dover.

         Elin was born in Natick, Mass. on October 26, 1914, the daughter of Henry and Hannah (Siedbeck) Nelson who immigrated from Scandinavia.  She was the oldest of four girls.

         Elin attended Natick High School and later graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1959.  She moved to Dover, N.H. after she married James E. Ames in 1939.  She belonged to the First Parish Church of Dover for over sixty years.

         Elin taught junior high English for nineteen years in the Dover School System before retiring in 1980.

Elin and Jim managed Ames Farm Inn in Gilford, N.H. for over forty years.

Elin had traveled extensively and was an avid reader.  She loved the lake and was devoted to her family.

Elin was predeceased by her husband, James, her parents and three sisters, Lillian, Edith and Elna.  She is survived by three sons, Donald and his wife, Linda, of Gilford, N.H., Peter and his wife, Sharon, of Dover, N.H. and Jerry of Boston, Mass.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Becker and her husband, Dale, of Loveland, Ohio and Peggy Ames and her husband, Patrick Brown, of Stoneham, Mass.; four great grandchildren, Joe, Dan and Kate Becker of Loveland, Ohio and Shealagh Brown of Stoneham, Mass.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 4:00-6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 10:00AM also at the Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246 or to the Sol Amor Hospice of North Hampton, 65 Lafayette Road, Suite 302, North Hampton, N.H. 03862.
