Barbara Jones

Laconia-----Barbara Jones passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, with her family by her side.  Barbara lived a full life and was a ray of sunshine for all she met!

Barbara was born Barbara Bickford on February 8, 1918 in Belmont to Elizabeth (Torrey) and Guy Bickford.  Barbara moved to Laconia at the age of six and resided in the Lake City for the past 83 years.  Barbara was a member of the Laconia High School Class of 1936.  After graduation, Barbara worked in the manufacturing industry in the Lakes Region.

Barbara married Karl Jones in 1955.  Together they owned and operated a vegetable farm on Elm Street in Laconia and raised a family.  From 1978 until 1996, Barbara worked in the Laconia Public School System at Elm Street School as a Lunch Lady.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Soucy, and son-in-law, Jim Soucy, of Laconia; her son, Russell Jones, and daughter-in-law, Emily Cook, of Laconia; her sister, Pauline Blair, and brother-in-law, Chuck Blair, of Isle Of Palms, S.C.; her grand-daughters, Desiree and Danielle Soucy, of Laconia; her grand-sons, Logan and Taylor Derepentigny, of Shepherdstown, W.V.; Richard Blair of Fall River, Mass.; Rick Como of Fall River, Mass.; Patrick Blair of Isle Of Palms, S. C.; Mike Blair of Huntington, Md. and her great-grandsons, Ben Blair of Isle Of Palms, S. C. and Alex Blair of Huntington, Md.

Barbara’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at 11:00AM with a ceremony at South Road Cemetery in Belmont and a reception following in Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s friends are asked to provide donations to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
