Patricia (Barrows) Frawley

LACONIA, NH - Patricia (Barrows) Frawley of Laconia and Naples, Florida died peacefully on May 6, 2007.  Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on September 25, 1923 she fully devoted herself to family, community and friends.  Married to Francis D. Frawley for 48 years, he predeceased her in 1997, as well as their beloved son, Francis D. Frawley III, who died in 1992.

After graduating from Lowell High School, she worked briefly in retail and was a secretary for the professors at the branch of the University of Massachusetts at Fort Devens.  Always active in charitable efforts, she was a former president of the D'Youville Manor Ladies Guild in the 1960s and volunteered with numerous groups including the Ladies of Charity and Seton Guild.  In the Lakes Region, she was a board member of the Belknap Mill Society, and a past member of Altrusa, Business and Professional Women, Laconia Woman's Club, LRGH Auxiliary and Our Lady of the Lakes Ladies Guild.  Fashion was a long-time passion and she organized and modeled in many regional style shows, benefiting a variety of causes.

Patricia was a major contributor to businesses founded with her late husband, Holiday Linen Service in Massachusetts and Lakes Region Linen and Uniformly Yours in New Hampshire. She regularly participated in national and international meetings of the Textile Rental Services Association of America and the New England Laundry Association. The New Hampshire enterprises continue with family ownership.

She thoroughly enjoyed sports, as an avid golfer and cheerleader to all of the games her children and grandchildren played – as well as the Red Sox and New England Patriots.  Patricia was a member of the Laconia Country Club and The Club at Pelican Bay, Naples, and for many years, Vesper Country Club on Tyng’s Island, Massachusetts.  Politics was a further passion and she actively worked in campaigns for some 40 years, supporting candidates for local, state and federal offices.

Patricia is survived by four daughters including Linda Frawley of Belmont, Deborah Frawley Drake  and her children, Adam and Elizabeth, all of Laconia, Pamela Thurston her husband, Mark, and their children, Jonathan and Jason all of Sanbornton, and Patrice Frawley and her daughter, Samantha Frawley, both of Montrose and Ridgway, Colorado.

 Other loving survivors include sisters, Anastasia and husband, Ronald Silver, Elinor and husband, Leo Foley, Margaret and husband, Joseph Flannery, Theresa and husband, Doria Richards, a sister-in-law, Effie Burrows and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Noon at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, NH by Rev. George Soberick, Pastor of the Church, and Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Laconia.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia, NH. 

Memorial donations in Patricia’s name are encouraged to Lakes Region General Hospital - Elder Care Unit, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, NH 03246
