Laconia, New Hampshire—Jeffrey A. Buchanan, 57, of 68 Drummer Trail, died in Laconia on Wednesday May 30, 2007. Jeff was born April 4, 1950 in Columbus, OH, beloved son of Ronald E. and Josephine Buchanan, of Lynnfield, MA. He was raised in Winchester, MA, and graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Jeff, a resident of Laconia since 1996, was a prominent member of the community.  He served as President of South Down Shores Recreation Association, and a various number of sub committees. His tireless dedication to the community never wavered. He also served many years on the Laconia Planning Board. He was employed for over 30 years as a Transportation Consultant with United Van Lines serving clientele such as the Boston Red Sox.

In his time in Laconia, Jeff enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and long walks with his dog “Casey.” He had a fondness for boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, while his winters were spent snowmobiling.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Karen L (Nary) Buchanan, his daughter Julie McCracken and her husband Sean, of Haverhill, MA; a daughter, Katie Lanzi and her husband Peter, of Wilmington MA, and  a son, Ryan Buchanan of Winchester, MA and their mother Jane (Ryan) Gilberti of Winchester, MA.

His parents, Ronald and Josephine Buchanan of Lynnfield, MA, a sister, Susan Malinowski of Connecticut. Two brothers, James and his wife Lisa of Texas and Scott and his wife Kirsten of Maine.

Also survived by several nieces and a nephew Memorial calling hours will be held at Our Lady of The Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, NH, Monday June 4, 2007 from 4-6 PM.

Additional memorial calling hours will be held Tuesday June 5, 2007 from 4-8 PM at the Lane Funeral Home, 760 Main Street, Winchester, MA.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 6, 2007 at 9:00 A.M. St. Mary’s Church 158 Washington Street, Winchester, MA. Relatives and friends will gather directly at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society P.O. Box 572 Laconia, NH 03247-0572 or to the animal shelter of your choice.
