PFC Nicholas R. Cournoyer

Gilmanton---PFC Nicholas R. Cournoyer, 25, of 51 Halmar Road, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, while serving in Iraq with the 10th Mountain Infantry out of Ft. Drum, NY.

PFC Cournoyer was born in Concord, NH on September 10, 1980, the son of Denis R. and Lenda (Newton) Cournoyer. He attended school in Gilmanton and graduated from Gilford Middle High School in 2000.

PFC Cournoyer enjoyed music, partying, concerts, playing pool, lifting weights, running, his truck, the annual canoe trip and being with his family and friends. He was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

Survivors include his parents, Denis R. and Lenda A. Cournoyer, of Gilmanton; a sister, Natalie A. Cournoyer, of Meredith; his grandmother, Vivian A. Newton, of Laconia and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2006 from 4:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia. A Liturgy of the Word will be held at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia, NH on Monday, May 29, 2006 at 10:00AM. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church, will officiate. Following the Service, Nick will be laid to rest at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the: Nicholas R. Cournoyer Scholarship Fund at Gilmanton School c/o Maureen Delaney. 1386 NH RT. 104, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837.
