Anne was born on April 4, 1914, in Worcester, Mass. to Jonathan Dalzell and Marion (Stevenson) Dalzell. They had emigrated here from Ireland and Scotland respectively. She attended Worcester schools and met her future husband, Wilbert N. Batstone, when she was 18. "Bert" had come from Newfoundland to find work as an electrician.
They married in 1937 and settled in Leominster, Mass., where they ran Batstone Electric together and raised their two children, Donald and Jane. They also greatly enjoyed raising farm animals and vegetables on their land in the country, and shared a great fondness for the dogs that shared their home over the years.
They retired the first time to New Port Richey, Florida in 1969, and then to Laconia in 1972 to be near Jane and her children. Anne's greatest joy in life was always her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker, a great cook, and a good friend to everyone who knew her.
