Land O'Lake, Florida------A Memorial Service for Shirley I. Ledgard, will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 10:00AM using the Carriage House entrance. Burial will follow in Bayside Cemetery, Union Avenue, Laconia. Mrs. Ledgard formerly of Ridgewood Avenue, Gilford, NH, died at her home in Florida on Thursday, January 27, 2005.

Mrs. Ledgard was born July 22, 1926 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of Dolphus and Dora (Boucher) DesRosier. She was raised in Laconia, NH where she attended the local schools, graduating from Laconia High School in 1944. In 1964, she moved to Gilford, NH.

Mrs. Ledgard was a registered nurse for the office of Dr. Hamel, Laconia, NH. She was founder and member of the Women's Club of Gilford, NH and a member of the Federation of Women's Club. She was also a longtime volunteer in the Gilford School District. In 1988, she moved to Florida.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan B. Ruggles of Gilford, NH; two grandchildren, John I. Ruggles and Jessica L. Ruggles, both of Gilford, NH; a brother, Carlton DesRosier of Ormond Beach, Florida; a sister, Lorraine Morin of Sun City, Florida; several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John B. Ledgard, on December 12, 1976; by a sister, Estelle Johnson and by a brother, Dolphus DesRosier.
