Belmont---Rainer G. Rall, 67, of Belmont passed away March 21st at home following a brief struggle with cancer.

Rainer was born February 22, 1942 in Reutlingen, Baden-Wuerrtemberg, Germany , the son of Reinhold and Elfriede (Schwarz) Rall.

After attending private school in Germany, Rainer studied mechanical engineering in Munich. He began his career at a company that manufactured knitting machines which led him to the United States in the late 1960’s when he accepted an offer to transfer to their subsidiary company. It was in the US that Rainer met his wife, Gloria, and settled in Belmont. Following over 40 years in the design engineering field, Rainer had just retired last year from Vutek, Inc. in Meredith.

Rainer enjoyed many hobbies such as working around his house and gardens, computer design, photography, railroad and aircraft modeling, woodworking, coin collecting, and spending time at his camp in Maine and Florida with his wife and friends.

Rainer is remembered as a man blessed with luck, always in a good mood, calm and friendly. A practical man who could on one hand easily relate to anything technical and who also possessed many artistic talents such as oil painting as well as clay and metal sculpting.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Gammon-Rall, of Belmont, her children, David Gammon and his wife, Carol, of Laconia, Sheila Bartlett and her husband, Stephen, of Gilmanton, Sharon Robillard and her husband, Jeffrey, of Belmont, Harvey Gabriel of Belmont and Sheryl Gammon-Jorgensen, who died in 1995; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Heidemarie Blank and Editha Braun, as well as several cousins, nephews and nieces in Germany.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00AM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.

Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH handled the cremation and arrangements.
