Douglas Grant Meldrum, Jr.

Laconia-----Douglas Grant Meldrum, Jr., 84, of 63 Garden Circle, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Mr. Meldrum was born June 5, 1924 in San Francisco, Calif., the son of Douglas G. and Dorothy (Kinsey) Meldrum. He had been a resident of Laconia for the past nine years.

Mr. Meldrum served in the U. S. Air Force as a radar operator during WWII. He was also a graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio. Before retirement, he worked as a magazine editor and in public relations. He was an avid reader and writer.

Mr. Meldrum is survived by his wife, Betty (Taylor) Meldrum, of Laconia; two step-daughters, Wren Sooy of Marblehead, Mass. and Robin Grant of Scottsdale, Arizona and five grandchildren, Kristin Horgan, Corey Walker, Chris Walker, Lauren Cormier and Elise Cormier. In addition to his parents, Mr. Meldrum was predeceased by two sisters.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service.
