Laconia---Elizabeth Anne Drouin, 73 of 150 Franklin Street Laconia passed away after a courageous two year battle with ovarian cancer at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday March 22, 2009.
Mrs. Drouin was born April 6, 1935 in Laconia the daughter of Arthur Joseph and Elizabeth Anne (Plante) Corriveau. She attended and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She was a life long resident of the Lakes Region.
Mrs. Drouin was employed at the Laconia Peoples National Bank & Trust Co. for 23 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of The Lakes Church.
She will be remembered as a loving wife of 53 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed the ocean where she was an intense bocce player, long walks, hikes in the mountains and making snow angels. She was a talented and gifted quilter. She shared this special gift with her family and nearly 200 recipients of ABC Quilts (babies born with life threatening illnesses).
Survivors include her husband Benoit C. Drouin of Laconia; 2 daughters Anne Maltais and her husband Danny of Laconia and Lise Johnson and her husband Charles of Laconia; 2 sons Rev. Marc Drouin of Exeter and Thomas Drouin and his wife Anne of Laconia; 9 grandchildren Leah Fraser of Alaska, Seth Maltais, Hannah Maltais and Dan Maltais, Jr. all of Laconia, Jason Maltais of Gilmanton, Melissa Maltais of Sanbornton, Hillary Johnson, Matthew Johnson and Katelyn Drouin all of Laconia and a great-granddaughter Abigail Maltais; 2 sisters Jane Bailey of Georgia and Olive Valliere of South Carolina; several nephews and nieces. Beside her parents she was predeceased by a sister Annette Brulotte.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2009 from 3-6 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street Laconia using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of The Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street Laconia.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery later this spring.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc. 780 North Main Street, Laconia NH 03246 or to Bea Vezina-Coordinator-Sacred Heart Quilters, c/o Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
