Laconia-----Roland L. Carrier, 82, of 713 Darby Drive, died at the Tift Regional Medical Center, in Tifton, Georgia on Friday, March 13, 2009.

Mr. Carrier was born March 27, 1926 in Laconia, N. H., the son of Alfred and Maria (LaPierre) Carrier.

Mr. Carrier served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime resident of Laconia and was employed at Laconia Shoe Co for forty-four years, retiring in 1986 as Vice President of Production.

Mr. Carrier was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. His hobbies included billiards, bowling, fishing and gardening.

Mr. Carrier is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Theresa V. (LaBranche) Carrier, of Laconia; three sons, Norman Selander-Carrier and his spouse, Ronald Selander-Carrier, of Manchester, N.H.; Paul Carrier and his wife, Nancy, of Tifton, Georgia and Philip Carrier and his wife, Catherine, of Virginia; a daughter, Diane Carrier, of Manchester; five grandchildren, Christopher P. Carrier, Stacilyn Carrier, Brian Carrier, David Carrier and Christopher S. Carrier; a brother, Fernand Carrier, of Laconia; a sister, Annette Quintiliani, of Concord; four nephews and two nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carrier was predeceased by two brothers, Lucien and Hector.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Church, 192 Union Avenue, Laconia.
Spring burial will be in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 9 Erie Drive Suite 101, Natick, MA 01760.
