Cecil "Tex" R. Holland

Laconia-----Cecil “Tex” R. Holland, 84, of 36 Taylor Home Drive and formerly of 2210 Parade Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday, March 15, 2009.
Mr. Holland was born January 14, 1925 in Abilene, Texas, the son of Oscar D. and R. Lee (Dodson) Holland. He served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He was a graduate of Bentley College.

Mr. Holland was employed at the Lakes Region General Hospital for twenty-three years, retiring in 1983 as Treasurer. He was a member and past President of the Laconia Kiwanis Club and was a past Lt. Governor.

Mr. Holland is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Elizabeth L. (Beetle) Holland, of Laconia; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Pam Holland, of Rydel, Penn. and three grandchildren, Joseph, Michael and Isabella. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holland was predeceased by a son, David R. Holland, in 1994.

According to Mr. Holland’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N. H. 03247 or to the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, McGreal Sight Center, 25 Walker Street, Concord, NH 03301-9977.
