Robert Murphy Send a condolence note

Gilford, N.H.-----Robert Murphy, 82, of 148 Woodland Avenue, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

 Mr. Murphy was born May 16, 1925 in Newton, Mass., the son of Peter and Marguerite (Lewis) Murphy. 

Mr. Murphy served in the U. S. Army during WWII.  He lived in Waltham, Mass. for many years where he was employed by the City of Waltham.  He moved to Gilford sixteen years ago.

Mr. Murphy was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport.  He enjoyed camping and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary E. (Baxter) Murphy, of Gilford; two sons, Robert P. Murphy of Belmont, N.H. and James W. Murphy of Fitchburg, Mass.; four daughters, Donna M. Santonastaso, Judith A. Beal and Carolyn Lee Penzone all of Fitchburg, Mass and Diane G. Murphy of Gilford, N.H.; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Murphy, of Plymouth, Mass.; a sister, Margaret McMillian of Tewksbury, Mass. and several nephews and nieces.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Murphy was predeceased by two brothers, William and Edward, and by a sister, Helen.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 2:00-5:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H., using the Whipple Avenue entrance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, N. H.

Burial will follow at 12:30PM at the N. H. State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Rte 3, Boscawen, N. H.
