Barbara I. Isaacson Send a condolence note

Gilford - Barbara I. Isaacson, 87, of Merrimack County Nursing Home, passed away at Concord Hospital, Concord on March 10th.

Barbara was born July 19, 1920 in Durham, NH. Daughter of John and Gertrude (Leighton) Reardon. Widow of Alfred W. Isaacson. Barbara was raised in the town of Durham and spent many of her summers visiting York Beach. During her school years she worked in York Beach as a caretaker for children and enjoyed visiting the Golden Rod where her mother had once worked.

Barbara worked at the University of NH for twenty years serving in the printing department then as an office assistant in mail service before retiring. She was a girl scout leader and the Director of Camp Seawood Day Camp in Portsmouth during the 60’s. Member of the Legion Auxiliary Bougan-Reardon Post #94.

She was one of the founders of the McGregor Memorial Ambulance Service (now McGregor Memorial EMS).

She is survived by son, William H. Isaacson of Madbury, daughter, Karen L. Bates of Gilford, two grandchildren, Leighton Bates of Gilford and Andrew Bates of Broomfield, Colorado, two great grandchildren, Kiara Mae Bates and Gabriel Alfred Bates both of Gilford, one sister, Marjorie Long of S. Chatham, MA, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by six brothers, Myron Reardon, Charlie Reardon, Harold Reardon, John Reardon, Herbert Reardon, and Bill Reardon, and by two sisters, Dorothy Willey and Shirley Yates.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in Durham, announcement to follow. Burial will be in the family lot at Durham Cemetery in Durham, NH.
