Gilford-----Roy C. Ostrand, 81, formerly of 176 Gunstock Hill Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Monday, March 28, 2005.
Mr. Ostrand was born October 7, 1923 in Waltham, MA, the son of William J. and Elsa (Lindbergh) Ostrand.
He was a graduate of the Waltham schools and also a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology. During WWII, Mr. Ostrand served as a paratrooper with the 13th Airborne in the European theater. Before moving to New Hampshire in 1962 from Wayland, MA, he wasemployed by B.F. Goodrich as methods engineer and as sales representative for Anderson Engineering, Cambridge, MA. He was the former owner of Tabor's Marina in Glendale, NH and was employed with the State of New Hampshire, until retirement, as Right of Way Real Estate Appraiser, Public Works and Highways.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Brodrick) Ostrand of Gilford; two daughters, Janet Plummer and Kris Piche, both of Gilford, NH; a son, William T. Ostrand, also of Gilford; three grandsons; two granddaughters; two great granddaughters and one great grandson. He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Martha (Ostrand) Mitchell and a brother, Vincent W. Ostrand.
At Mr. Ostrand's request, there are no calling hours.
A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family.
