Alfred "Bob"Oliver

Belmont, NH -----Alfred "Bob" Oliver, 88, of 7 Lilac Lane, Belmont, NH and formerly of 81 Chancery St., New Bedford, MA, died at the Franklin Regional Hospital, Franklin, NH on Saturday, March 5, 2005.

"Bob" was born February 14, 1917 in New Bedford, MA, the son of Lawrence and Frances (Brown) Oliver. He attended New Bedford public schools and was a resident there until 1994, moving to Belmont, NH in December, 1994.

"Bob" served in the U. S. Army in Germany with the 45th Infantry Division during WWII. He received the M1 Rifle Expert Award and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was also a truck driver for the Division, earning the WWII Victory Ribbon.

Mr. Oliver was the former owner of Oliver Sweeper Service and was also a Bus driver for Almeida Bus Lines. He was a heavy equipment operator at Otis Air Force Base in Falmouth, Mass for twenty years, serving under the 102nd Fighter Interceptor Wing. He received an award for ear protection for Flight Line Operations. He enjoyed playing poker, making home repairs, watching John Wayne movies and camping.

He was the loving husband of fifty-two years to Janet E. (Santin) Oliver of Belmont, NH; loving father of Robin and Mark Oliver of New Bedford, MA and Cathy Ann Brady of Wareham, MA; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont, NH on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 11:00AM.

Burial will be held on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 11:30AM at the VA National Cemetery of MA, Bourne, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Veterans of Foreign Wars, 26 Peabody Place, Franklin, NH 03235.
