Eleanor Nelson

Gilmanton Iron Works——-Mrs. Eleanor (Hislop) Nelson, 87, died at the Harris Hill Center, Concord, NH on Monday, June 3, 2002. She was the widow of George M. Nelson who died April 14, 2002.

Mrs. Nelson was born November 25, 1914 in Merrimac, MA, the daughter of R. Willis and Bertha M. (Ellis) Hislop.

Mrs. Nelson was a long time resident of Gilmanton Iron Works and had been a resident of the Harris Hill Center in Concord for a number of months.

Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Plymouth Normal School, Plymouth, NH and was a teacher for 25 years. She taught in Belmont, Gilmanton and Laconia, retiring in 1972.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Gilmanton Community Church. She was a member of the Gilmanton Iron Works Grange, the Eastern Star #4, the Retired Teacher’s Association, the N. E. A., and the Lakes Region Teacher’s Association.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, George M. and Sharon Nelson II, of Barrington, NH and Wayne D. and Judy Nelson of Gilmanton Iron Works; a daughter and her husband, Carolyn N. and Robert Bunnell of Concord, and a son-in-law, Robert L. Cole of Gilmanton Iron Works; seven grandchildren, Timothy J. Nelson, Meghan N. Cavanaugh, R. Willis Bunnell, Elizabeth E. Bunnell, Amy E. Cole, George J. Nelson and W. David Nelson; four great grandchildren, Jacob T. Nelson, David J. Nelson, Zachary E. Bunnell, and Elayne M. Cavanaugh; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Jean V. Partridge and Elayne N. Cole; three brothers, Robert E. Hyslop, Donald W. Hyslop and Richard W. Hislop; and a sister, Dorothy H. Osborne.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 from 5-7 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Gilmanton Community Church, Gilmanton Iron Works on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 11:00AM. The Rev. Linda B. Bolton, Pastor of the church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilmanton Iron Works.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032.
