Gilford-----A memorial service for A. Irene Trafford who died on March 29, 2002 at the Belknap County Nursing Home, Laconia, will be held on Monday, August 12, 2002 at 11:30AM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. Burial will be at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Canada at a later date.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorleen (Richard) Merrill of Gilford, NH; her grandchildren, Randall (Pamela) Gardner of Gilford, NH; Judith Bliss of Ann Arbor, MI; Janice (Frederick) Warner of Ottawa, Canada and Jay Peak, Vt; and Donald Bate, Jr. of Aersyde, Alberta, Canada; and her great grandchildren Jeffrey, Erik and Leah Gardner and Jessica Bliss. Mrs. Trafford was predeceased by a daughter, Merle (Donald) Bate.

The following is the obituary for Irene Trafford which ran in the newspapers in March, 2002....

Gilford, NH——Mrs. Irene Trafford, 102, honored mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2002, as she lived her life, with quiet dignity. She was born on September 10, 1899 in Ontario, Canada. After living extensively in Canada, she moved to California in the mid-1960s and remained there until she moved to Gilford, NH. For over a decade she received tender care and attention as a resident of the Belknap County Nursing Home where she passed away after a brief illness. She lived a long, full life and saw the world change over a span of 100 years. She was blessed with good health, the deep and abiding friendship of many people, and the love of her family.

She will always be remembered for her positive attitude, sense of humor and thoughtful, caring ways, and her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorleen (Richard) Merrill of Gilford; her grandchildren, Randall (Pamela) Gardner of Gilford, Judith Bliss of Ann Arbor, MI; Janice (Frederick) Warner of Ottawa, Canada and Jay Peak, Vt. and Donald Bate, Jr. of Aersyde, Alberta, Canada; and her great grandchildren Jeffrey, Erik and Leah Gardner and Jessica Bliss. Mrs. Trafford was preceded in death by her other daughter, Merle (Donald) Bate.

Following cremation, internment will take place at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Canada. A memorial service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH at a future date.
