Alton, NH--------Woodrow Sawyer, 72, of Chestnut Cove Road, Alton, died at his home on Friday, July 12, 2002.

Mr. Sawyer was born on March 10, 1930 in Wilmot, Arkansas.

Mr. Sawyer had been a resident of Alton for the past 10 years, coming from Weymouth Massachusetts.

Mr. Sawyer had been in the U.S. Marine Corp for 20 years, retiring in 1977 as a Master Sgt.

Mr. Sawyer was a member of the Weymouth United Masonic Lodge, AF&AM.

Mr. Sawyer enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing.

Survivor&Mac226;s include his wife Merle (Kurtis) Sawyer of Alton; a daughter Karen S. Simmons and her husband Peter of Bolton Massachusetts; a grandson Zachary L. Simmons of Bolton Massachusetts; his foster mother Beaulah (Bell) Rice of Lake Village Arkansas; two brothers James Rice and Thomas Rice both of Lake Village Arkansas; a sister Jo Ann Mason of Branson Missouri and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his foster father, Odell Rice.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 15, 2002 from 7-9PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia New Hampshire using the Carriage House Entrance.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at 2:00 PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Route 3 Boscawen New Hampshire.
