Harry V. Severance

Laconia-----Harry V. Severance, 87, formerly of 126 Washington Street, Lakeport, died at the Masonic Home in Manchester, on Monday, July 1, 2002. He was the widower of Eva Mae (Johnson) Severance who died in 1999.

Mr. Severance was born in Hill, NH on June 28, 1915, the only child of Harry B. and Elizabeth (Heath) Severance.

Mr. Severance owned his own business in the old town of Hill, and was one of the first businesses to build in the new town of Hill in 1941. In 1951, he joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and retired in 1971 due to ill health. In 1959, he moved from Hill to Laconia. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Laconia and had served as a Deacon. He was a past president of the Lakes Region Life Underwriters, was a member of Union Lodge #79 F. & A. M.; a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Bektash Temple, the Bektash Mini-Patrol, and the A Patrol Marching Unit. He was also a member of the Winnipesaukee Shrine Club.

He is survived by four children; Sandra Libby of Nashua, NH; Rev. Arthur G. Severance of San Antonio, Texas and twins, Jack H. Severance of Laconia and Joan E. Coursey of Rumney, NH; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH on Friday, July 5, 2002 at 1:00 PM. Mr. Severance's son, Rev. Arthur G. Severance, of San
Antonio,Texas, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Pleasant Cemetery in Hill, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital, Boston Burns Unit c/o Recorder Bektash Temple A.A.N.O.M.S., PO Box 4086, Concord, NH 03302-4086.
