Laconia----Dorea J. Decato 90 of 34 A Parker Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital Sunday June 7, 2009. He was the widower of Helen (Farnsworth) Decato who died in 1999.
Dorea was born March 6, 1919 in Canaan NH the son of Dallas F. and Exzelia M. (Rameor) Decato. He was a life long resident of the Lakes Region.
Dorea served in the US Army during WWII. He had been employed at Scott & Williams for 35 years. He had also worked for Meals on Wheels for 11 year and also helped his wife in her catering service for many years. He was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876, American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1 and also a member of the Laconia Rod & Gun Club.
Dorea was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia. He was an avid bowler and a member of The Seven Bullets bowling team.
Survivors include a son Victor J. Decato of Lewiston, Maine; 3 daughters Louise Chase of Gilford, Patricia Hilliard and Mary Blake and her husband Robert all of Laconia; 6 grandchildren Charlene Boulanger, Michele Chase, Becky Blake, Francis D. Hilliard, Angela Cassavaugh and Corey Blake; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Ovide Decato of Gardner, Mass. and Hank Decato of Bakersfield, Calif; a sister Regis LaCroix of Laconia; many nephews and nieces and he loved his cat Shadow. Beside his parents and wife he was predeceased by 2 brothers Leo Decato and Emile Decato a sister Bertha Decato and a grandson Kevin Blaisdell.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2009 from 4-8 PM using the Carriage house entrance of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia 172 Pleasant Street Laconia, NH 03246.
