Howard "Pete" Lloyd Osler

Gilmanton-----Howard “Pete” Lloyd Osler, 77, of 481 Rte 140, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, NH on Monday, June 6, 2005, following a courageous four-year battle with a myeloproliferative disorder and leukemia.

Pete was born November 24, 1927 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Howard B. and Miriam (Locke) ) Osler. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Pete was a 1951 graduate of Antioch College. He was an employee of the Foxboro Co. in Foxborough, MA for twenty years and served as controller and vice president from 1981 through his retirement in 1987. He had formerly been employed by the Gillette Co. as an accountant. Throughout his life Pete lived in various towns in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Panama and Argentina. After retirement, Pete settled in Gilmanton to be near his father and stepmother. He spent the leisure years of his life participating in town governance, playing bridge with friends, and relaxing with his wife, Barbara, and dogs Bonnie and Abigail.

During his retirement Pete was grateful to have many opportunities to serve his community. He was a Gilmanton Selectman and a trustee of both the Trust Funds and Gilmanton Cemeteries. Pete also served as a member of the Gilmanton Budget Committee, School Building Committee, Zoning Board of Adjustments, and Historic District Commission.

The Osler family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and support. They extend a very special thanks to the staff of the Hematology/Oncology Department at the Lakes Region General Hospital for their kindness and caring support through this difficult time.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara C. (Skufca) Osler; daughter, Carol Osler; three sons, Peter Osler, Andrew Osler and Bruce Osler; seven grand children

There will be no calling hours.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 27, 2005 at 11:00am at Smith Meeting House, Meeting House Road, Gilmanton, NH.

Private family burial will be held later.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lakes Region General Health Care, Attn: Sherri Cesati, Oncology Department, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, NH 03246, in memory of Pete Osler.
